Karla Armbrister

Hello, my name is Karla Armbrister. In the beginning of my academic studies, my goal was to become an English teacher. However, sociology and social work classes changed those goals by inspiring in me a passion for helping others. I went on to earn my Master’s in Social Work from Washburn University so I could help others even more.

So far in my career, I have worked with people experiencing mental health issues, domestic and sexual violence, and substance use disorders. With each client, I meet them where they’re at in their lives. I listen to recognize their strengths and commitment. Together we develop a recovery plan that they can work on to improve their lives.

I have also stayed home to raise my three children. During those years I served as an adjunct college professor for sociology, diversity, and women’s issues at Fort Hays and Wichita State Universities. Now that my children are nearing adulthood, I’ve returned to my passion for helping others. I’m excited to be a part of The Caring Center of Wichita’s counseling team. It feels right.

A practice I strongly believe in is the relationship between therapist and client as a sacred place where hope builds, and change begins. Finding a therapist is like shopping for a great pair of shoes — you need the right size, but they must feel good, too.

I welcome the opportunity to explore your needs and see if I am the right fit for you. Give me a call at 316-295-4800. Let me help you take the next step on your road to recovery.

Meanwhile, stay safe.

~ Karla
