Our Philosophy

The Caring Center of Wichita understands that addiction is a disease and a public health problem. We believe that those suffering from this disease should be viewed and treated as patients, and not prisoners.

We use an extremely individualized, open and holistic treatment approach with every patient that comes through our doors at The Caring Center of Wichita. Patients gain the clear sense that we care, are non-judgmental, meet them where they are at, and help them come to their own answers.

Treatment and Recovery is a process.

Research confirms that treatment and recovery from drug and alcohol use disorders is a process — and not an event. We now know that consistent attendance in your therapy is a requirement for change to occur. Change often requires a temporary surrender of security.

Once a person recognizes the problem, it requires desire, commitment, and action — with continual focus on all of these over time to gain sobriety. The loss of focus in any of these areas often leads to relapse.

Treatment Process

Treatment enables you to counteract addiction’s powerful, disruptive effects on your brain and behavior to regain control of your life.

We begin this process by giving you the basic understanding of the science of addiction. You’ll learn how your dependence on drugs has impacted your life — and those that love you.

We’ll match the science with your experience.

Once you begin to understand the disease, you’ll realize that it is so much more than an addiction. It’s about what happened to you not what’s wrong with you. This knowledge and understanding helps you to rid yourself from some of the guilt and shame. Too often the suffering from this disease keeps you in it.

Knowledge also equals empowerment in terms of understanding and then having more control over your thoughts, actions, and behaviors.

In this regard, we teach you coping skills. In addition, you’ll learn how to better manage the symptoms (people, places, and things) in the environment where they occur.

We present you with a comprehensive understanding of the definitions of both substance use and mental health disorders. Together we’ll create treatment plan with your goals, your tasks, and your interventions that will help you overcome or manage your addictive behaviors and decisions.

We understand

All of us at The Caring Center of Wichita understand that approximately 70% of people who suffer from the disease of addiction have mental health symptoms such as depression, anxiety, bipolar condition, attention deficit disorder, and other substance-induced anxiety and mood disorders that either preceded or followed the substance use disorder.

Working with an outside medical provider, we offer medical evaluations to explore the possibility of medication management, as well as medicated assisted treatment with some of the latest medications that help combat triggers and cravings to use alcohol and opiates.

Our mission is you. We’re here to help you cope and manage the symptoms in your environment. Give us a call and let’s set a time when we can meet. Call us at 316-295-4800.
