The Road

Graphic Country Road to sunshine

Your road to recovery starts here.

Thank you for visiting our Caring Center of Wichita website. All of us understand the journey you have chosen to take, and we respect you for it.

We also know you are unique. Your journey may offer similar paths as others who have walked their roads to recovery. However, we understand that your experiences may be completely different than anyone else we have ever helped before.

Wherever you are, we know that you can recover and live a life that brings you joy.

Many roads ahead.

Many of us have been at the crossroads and, like you, took that first step and asked for professional help. However, that was not me.

By now I’m sure you’ve read my story.  I ignored every roadblock and warning sign about the need for change. My road to recovery happened when I began changing during my 10 years in prison.  Most people don’t change in prison.

It was there that I began to understand the value of living my life with integrity and getting my life back on track. Staying sober in there allowed that to happen.

I’m here to tell you that you do not have to waste years in a physical, mental, or an emotional prison to recover from drug and alcohol dependence — or childhood trauma. You can build a better life for yourself starting in the here and now!

Let us help you master the obstacles and challenges in your life — or find you someone who can.

You’re not alone, but you are among the few.

Approximately 328 million people live in the United States, today. In 2018, approximately 20.3 million people aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder (SUD) in the past year. This number includes 14.8 million who had an alcohol use disorder and 8.1 million who had an illicit drug use disorder.

The report also found that approximately18.9 million people needed treatment but did not receive any.

In 2018, the CDC found that an average of 41 people died each day from overdoses involving prescription opioids, totaling nearly 15,000 deaths. Their Overdose Death Maps show our plight.

By January of 2019, a person is more likely to die from an accidental opioid overdose than from a motor vehicle crash or gun violence, according to National Safety Council analysis.

These deaths are preventable.

Where do you want to be?

I remember every day I told myself that I could manage my addiction. Yet what my family and coworkers saw was my addiction managing me.

Do you want to be part of the 90% living in the “Land of the Free?” Or do you feel content dragging that ball and chain of addiction and/or mental illness around with you every hour of every day for the rest of your life? I know how hard it is to break that chain. It’s strong and creeps deep into your soul.

Believe me when I tell you it’s worth every shiver, every night sweat, every raw emotion to get free of whatever demon is holding you back.

Don’t question why you’re reading this. Make your decision. Go for the freedom and opportunity to live a new and rewarding life. Take that road to recovery.

You can be free.

Life’s too hard to go it alone. Let us help you. Life can be so much easier than you ever imagined. No more looking over your shoulder or hiding from the law or feeding off the crumbs of society. Take hold of your future and give us a call.

If you suffer from depression, anxiety, or drug addiction, please contact us. Take your next step on the road to recovery. You can call us at 316-295-4800 anytime day or night or fill out the form on our contact page. You can also directly email us at gethelp@thecaringcenterofwichita.com

Take care. Be strong. Live free.
